From AIS Bulletin #193 April 1969 Introducing MISS SALTILLO. Our 1969 Introduction above is a completely reverse bicolor, as the standards are gold on the outside and white inside; the falls are gold underneath and chalky white on the top side. Beautiful ruffled form with a precise border of lacy gold around all petal edges. The above picture of "MISS SALTILLO" does not show the real appeal of the flower, as it does not bring out the definite edging of fine crepey lace around all petal edges, that looks like it had been crocheted on, and the chalky white of the falls. "MISS SALTILLO" attracts attention and is very noticeable and no one ever passes it without some remark of admiration. It is a flower of good size, broad enough, orange beard, heavy substanced petals, and nice flare and on strong well-branched stalks 34 to 36" tall. Good Grower. You can plant "MISS SALTILLO" with a lot of pride and satisfaction. Net $25.00. Raymond Thomas. |
