From AIS Bulletin #217 April 1975 Introducing MODERN CLASSIC (Dr. F. J. Knocke). M-L, 40". (Space Ship X Stepping Out). This white ground plicata with aster-violet stitching is aptly named. The flower is perfection, and the fluting heavy. Bud placement superb, and there are many. Often 3 and 4 perfectly spaced blooms open at once. A supreme show prospect. The beard is pale yellow tipped violet. #K 919. HC '73 and '74. A co-introduction. $25.00. Tell's Gardens. |

- [Cooley's Gardens 1987]: White-ground plicata. Stitching violet in color, and pale yellow beard tipped in violet. Many buds, heavily fluted blossoms evenly spaced. HM, '76; AM, '79 -- DavidPotembski - 30 Apr 2013
- This TB reaches 44-46" here. Slender stalks are a problem in wind (Aren't they all?) Photographed in afternoon shade to enhance color. Strong sun seems to
- distort pigmentation. This is an iris I easily grow with other perennials including roses, daylilies, & phlox in this border. -- LeonElliott - 2013-08-05
