2001, Niswonger

'Navajo Blue' (O. David Niswonger, R. 2001). Seedling# 20-96. TB, 38" (97 cm). Midseason bloom. Light blue, falls with darker blue around hafts, hint of turquoise; beards pale blue base and at end, gold hair tips and gold in throat. Seedling# 34-94: ('Charm City Choice' x 'Timescape') X 'Just Magic'. Cape Iris 2001. Honorable Mention 2005.

From AIS Bulletin #321 April 2001 Introducing NAVAJO BLUE (Niswonger '01) Sdlg 20-96: 34-94: (Charm City Choice x Timescape) X Just Magic. TB, 38" (97 cm), M. Distinctive blues are hard to find nowadays but I think you will find this one different enough to be recognizable. Its a light blue that becomes a darker blue around the hafts. The beard is pale blue and the tips are gold but the intriguing thing about the color is the hint of turquoise. It should be good on the show bench since it easily will hold four blooms open at one time. Fertile both ways. $40.00. Cape Iris.
