According to Hornemann (Hortus regius botanicus hafniensis, vol. 1, p. 55): Same size as iris variegata but with wider and pale blue standards, sometimes streaked with purple; falls violet on tip and white veined with violet on the center and base. Pale sky blue beards with yellow tip. Tube shorter than that of iris variegata, stigma same color as standards. Pleasant fragrance. Flowering during the second half of June. |

NOTE: This Iris provided the name for the color class exhibiting this pattern. Originially described as a species but it became clear that this was an early hybrid. You may find references to it written Iris neglecta Hornem., Iris x neglecta, and as a tall bearded cultivar 'Neglecta' although since it was first recorded it would now be classed as an MTB. |
