From Aitken’s Salmon Creek Garden, 1992: NIGHT FLAME (Aitken '92) TB, M-L, 46", 12 buds. HAIDA DANCER (Caramba x Spartan) has a slight black flash around the beard. This spawned the idea of crossing it with a black iris, the best available at the time being SUPERSTITION. Many fine seedlings evolved and a final selection was extremely difficult, but this is it. Glossy red-black standards and velvety black falls - dramatic flowers on tall sturdy stems with 4 well spaced branches and spur. (Superstition x Haida Dancer) #81-52 $35.00 |
