From Wallace Gardens catalog, 1955: NIGHT SPLENDOR-1953-Seedling 48-59. (El Capitan x Ethiope Queen) x Seedling. A huge reddish-black self. Its thick leathery falls are the heaviest we have ever seen. The flowers flare jauntily and really take all kinds of weather. The fragrance reminds one of Concord Grapes. It has no pollen and is hard to get seed on. Late bloomer. 42 inch stalks. $5.00. |
