From AIS Bulletin #196 January 1970 Introducing ON TARGET: Sdlg. 66-19. TB. 36". M-L. (Rainbow Gold x Beauty Queen) X Denver Mint. Lemon yellow self. Ruffles with substance and texture. HC '69. Well received by West Coast growers. $20.00. Knopf Iris Gardens.
From Alan Harper’s Top O’ The Ridge catalog, 1971: ON TARGET (M. Knopf 1970) TB 36" M-L. RAINBOW GOLD X BEAUTY QUEEN. A distinctive lemon yellow, not as deep as WEST COAST but shimmering in its loveliness and most elegant in form, fluting and bud placement. Tops in substance, as are all Knopf creations. $15.00
Another iris with a low introductory price that has proven itself is ON TARGET. It has all the good qualities found in 'WEST COAST', which won a well-deserved AM this year. Two yellows, each different, each good, and near the top of a color class that is full of quality irises. [Mullin, Ron (1971). Irises I Like, American Iris Society Bulletin 204(January 1972), 10.]
