- My parents, Duane and Joyce Meek were dear friends to Opal Brown whom I only met once before she passed away. She was a mentor of sorts to my parents as she had been hybridizing iris for many years and she admired the work of my Dad and Mom. It is befitting that this flower, named after her, won the 2000 Moscow International medal for best flower that year. -- WikiGuest - 22 Dec 2019
