1983, Burch

'Optimist' (James Burch, R. 1982). Seedling# 39-2. TB, 34" (86 cm). Early bloom. Light yellow (RHS 4B); yellow orange (23A) beard. 'Kimberlina' X 'Luscious Lemon'. Burch Iris 1983.

From AIS Bulletin #249 April 1983 Introducing OPTIMIST- TB (Kimberlina X Luscious Lemon). The cupped standards are light yellow (RHS 4B); falls are the same, lightening to almost white in center. The iris is ruffled and weather resistant with wide, flaring falls that are bordered with gold lace. The three branches hold 7 buds. $25.00. Burch Iris Garden.
