From AIS Bulletin #241 April 1981 Introducing PACIFIC GROVE (Walt Luihn '81). #77-32-C. TB, 38" (97 cm), E-M-L. (Full Tide X Added Praise). Named after one of the many picturesque towns which dot our magnificent California coastline and which we like to visit whenever possible for complete peace and relaxation, the iris PACIFIC GROVE seems to afford all who see it this same luxury. It is a smooth shade of lobelia blue (HCC 41/1), lightly rippled and waved as the ever changing shades of blue sparkling on the sandy beaches. It is extremely hardy with exceptionally strong, well-branched stems and good increase. The very wide and thick-substanced flowers are lightly ruffled with slight venations radiating out from the thick cadmium orange beards, which gradually merge to pale cream at the tip. A very peaceful and appealing flower. $25.00. Luihn's Iris Garden. |
