From Wing Seed catalog, 1919: PARISIANA — New. Semi-early. Splendid flowers of the orchid type, very large. S. purple-violet spotted on white, passing to pure bright violet on the border; at a short distance the effect is pure bright violet self; F. velvety, glistening white, bordered and dotted bright violet-purple. Certificate of Merit from National Horticultural Society of France. $1.50. |
From Robert Wayman, "Best Twenty-five Irises", The Flower Grower, Oct 1925: PARISIANA: While this is a moderate priced variety, until recent years it stood in a class entirely by itself. There are now some newer varieties of similar type, but it remains to be seen whether they are better. PARISIANA has a white ground dotted and striped with deep lilac. |
From H. P. Simpson catalog, 1922: PARISIANA (Vilmorin, 1911) — S. white, heavily dotted lilac-purple; F. while, frilled at edge with lilac. A flower of unusual coloring and worthy of a place in any collection. Odd and yet pleasing. 27-30 inch. 35c. |
