From Tell’s Iris Garden catalog, 1951: PARTY DRESS (T. Muhlestein). Midseason-Late. (45-22 A: Lancaster x D. Hall's 42-10) x (46-22 B, sister to Pink Formal). We have all been working for a ruffled pink, and this is one. The color is actually pinker than Pink Formal. The ruffling adds greatly to its charm. Of medium size and good substance, falls semi-flaring, standards closed. Here is a flower with a lot of what we call charm or personality. Should be highly useful for breeding pinks since there is some blood refreshment here in the use of Lancaster. Highly Commended 1950. $20.00 |
From Fleur De Lis Gardens catalog 1956: PARTY DRESS (Muhl. 1951) M.L. 36 in. (Lancaster x Sib. to Dream Girl) x Sib. to Pink Formal. When Tell Muhlstein stated that there was charm, personality and quality all wrapped up in this pink; he was merely being modest. Frankly as it bloomed here it was really quite breathtaking, so clean, so pink, so ruffled and so many flowers. A. M. 1954. 3.00. |
