Journal de la Société National d'Horticulture de France, 1921, 4e série, Tome XXI, p. 174.
From Indian Spring Farms catalog, 1927: PEAU ROUGE (Cayeux 1923). A brilliant novelty of outstanding coloring. S. coppery-red; F. bronzy blood-red; beard brownish-yellow. In form of flower, it is similar to Ambigu but more brilliant. The stems are 24 inches high and do not branch. Probably the reddest toned Iris yet produced. $4.00 each.
From Bonnewitz catalog, 1926: PEAU ROUGE (Cayeux) $5.00. S. coppery-red; F. violet-carmine, reticulated yellow at base. Bronze-yellow beard. This seems to be a very good Iris, and was very much admired in our garden. It makes a good approach toward red. Mid- season.
