Phebus: (Cayeux). Stalk of good height, flowers well rounded, well balanced. The only criticism would be shortness of branch. [Belsley, Ray J., Varietal Comments. Bulletin of the American Iris Society 74 (July 1939), 18.] |
From Cooley's Wholesale pricelist, 1932: PHEBUS. A new yellow from Cayeux. Unlike Pluie d'Or, this iris is a uniform shade of lemon yellow, absolutely pure. Fine rounded flower of good size, over three feet tall. The lemon color introduces a new tone in iris of this class. Phebus was the high spot in French introductions in 1930, and was priced at one thousand francs. It is a very rapid increaser. Each $15.00; three for $40.00 |
Synonyms
Phœbus, as listed in Bulletin de la SNHF (1934).
