2008, Ghio

'Pianoforte' (Joseph Ghio, R. 2007). Seedling #U02-6F. TB, 34" (86 cm), Midseason to late bloom. Standards deep maroon-crimson, gold crystal hairline edge; falls maroon crimson overlaid velvety black, slight white marking at red beards. Parentage unknown. Bay View 2008. Honorable Mention 2011.

From Bay View Gardens catalog, 2008: PIANOFORTE, 34 inches, ML. $50.00. Here is a different approach to red: more from the rosy red side. The flaring falls are maroon crimson overlaid velvety black with slight white markings at the red beards. The tightly held standards are a bit lighter than the falls with a unique crystal hairline edge. Stipple ruffling with great buds and branching. No. U02-6F, unknown but from planned crosses.
