From Longfield Iris Farm catalog, 1949: PINK BOUNTIFUL (Cook No. 13143). (Seedling of Harriet Thoreau.) This Iris is the pinkest of all the orchid pink Iris we have grown. Large, perfectly formed flowers with broad petals; smooth satiny texture; heavy substance. Pink Bountiful is outstanding in two respects. First, it is the pure glowing pink that has been needed for combination with other colors in a perfect garden picture. Second, it is the hardiest, the most floriferous Iris we have ever grown, without exception. Regardless of the number of blooms or stalks, the stems rise straight and even above the foliage, making a lovely green frame around the pink. A perfect beauty! The well branched stem is 38-40 inches tall. Midseason. $15.00. |
