From AIS Bulletin #117, April 1950. Introducing PLACERITA (E. Miess-1950) A burnished gold self, with orange beard. Wide, ruffled, horizontal falls. Domed standards. Exceptionally heavy substance with no perceptible fading, branched low. $20.00. Syllmar Gardens.
From Iris Test Garden Catalog, 1955: PLACERITA. (Miess, 1950). M. 3S in.(Tobacco Road x Matula). A large flower of glowing tan with a heavy sprinkling of gold dust. Lovely. $6.00.
 
From Easy Breeze Gardens catalog, 1954: PLACERITA (M:ess '50) 36". A glowing burnished gold self. Smooth and broad, with horizontal flare and excellent substance and stalk. $8.00.
