From Tell’s Iris Garden catalog, 1958: "RARE GOLD (Carl 0. Schirmer). Midseason-Late. 38 inches. (Goldbeater x a Ming Yellow sdlg.)Greatly admired at the 1955 Canadian Convention. Fanciers have continued to ask when this and Gay Apparel would be introduced. There are many good yellows today, but non eare more brilliant or better formed than Rare·Gold. The flaring falls have good substance and the stalks carry these lovely flowers to perfection. H.C. 1955. $15.00 |
