Early midseason bloom and rebloom. Dark carmine red, falls veined blackish carmine; beards yellow. | From Rainbow Hybridizing Gardens catalog 1963: RED MANTLE (Slamova '61) ++ 35". A deep red, nearly a self, of remarkable size, rounded form & heavy substance. Standards dark carmine. Falls strongly flaring, broad, rounded, dark carmine, veined in carmine-black; beard yellow. Tall, well-branched stalks. Foliage remains green late into fall. Bloomed well for us from mid Oct. up to Feb. except for periods of extreme cold. In a mild climate is likely to bloom most of winter. Pollen fertile. (Joseph's Mantle X (Tea Rose x Yuma)).
