From Bay View Gardens catalog, 1966: ROYAL TARA - (Harbour '66) M-L. 38" This new iris was the center of attention last spring in several area gardens. A flawless self of uranium-green or beige-cream with green highlights with a blue based self beard. The form is perfection being semi-flaring, broad-hafted, heavily substanced, and with each flower delightfully fluted. This is a show flower without a peer: four perfectly placed branches and terminal with a fantastic 3-4 buds per socket insures a long season of bloom. No. 59-E: ((Charmed Land x Char-Maize) X Mary McClellan). HC '65. $25.00 |
ROYAL TARA (Harbour '66) is a beautifully formed, tall fluted, extremely well-branched beige-cream with green highlights. This is a future introduction to watch for. [Joseph Ghio, “The 1965 Iris Season in Review,” Bulletin of the American Iris Society, No. 179 (October 1965): 82.] |
