1952, Norton/Maxwell

'Royal Wish' (Luke Norton and Alexander Maxwell, R. 1950). TB, 38" (97 cm), Early midseason bloom. . Color Class-YD/RL5, Golden and light rose blend. 'Rainbow Room' x 'Ola Kala'. Iris Test Gdn 1952.

From Iris Test Garden Catalog, 1955: ROYAL WISH. (Norton, 1951). Cross between Ola Kala and Rainbow Room. Canary yellow beard. Tan gold reticulations at haft. Wide metallic rose shoulders with tan gold. Standards deep golden yellow and domed. Falls on lower part like Rainbow Room, edged gold. Effect of gold standards and rose pink falls. Large flaring flower, 38 inches tall. Heavy substance. Lovely in all stages of bloom. Entirely different from anything ever introduced before. A worthy child of the two Top Notchers as parents. $4.50.
