From Quality Gardens catalog 1931: RUY BLAS (Roo-ee Blah) (Millet 1927) L. 48". A plant of greatest vigor with a much branched spike of unusual strength. It bears huge flowers of perfect shape and great substance. S. velvety, smoky mauve. F. a magnificent shade of purplish violet, shading lighter at the edges, to a pale fawn color, with maroon reticulations. $5.00.
