■(TB) 'Saber Dance'

1970, Brown

'Saber Dance' (Opal Brown, R. 1970). Seedling# 66-171. TB, 38" (97 cm), Midseason bloom. Standards light amaranth rose (RHS 65A to 186D), blending to flesh at outer edges; falls champagne (164D), brushed lavender-rose, deeper on shoulders, copper lustre over all; burnt orange beard; lightly ruffled and crimped. Seedling# 64-102: ('Grandiflora' x (pink seedling x 'Gypsy Lullaby' sibling)) X 'Barcelona' sibling. Brown's Sunnyhill Gardens 1970. Honorable Mention 1971.

From AIS Bulletin #197 April 1970 Introducing SABER DANCE. $25.00. (0. L. Brown '70) TB. Mid., 38". Ruffled, domed standards are amaranth rose. Semiflaring falls are a blend of champagne and rose, deeper on hafts and sides. A copper lustre overall gives a changeable effect. Unique beard raspberry at base with top half of hairs burnt orange. Excellent branching. HC '69, Sdlg. #66-171. Brown's Sunnyhill Gardens.
