'Sable Robe' (Paul Cook by E. Cook, R. 1966). Seedling# 3161. TB, 36" (91 cm), Midseason bloom. Color Class-V1DD, Blackish violet self. Seedling# 16952: (seedling# 11348 x seedling# 3850) X seedling# 10957 ('Deep Black', x seedling# 6354). Cook 1966. High Commendation 1962; Honorable Mention 1967.

From AIS Bulletin #181 April 1966 Introducing SABLE ROBE (3161). An almost black flower, the standards only slightly tinged with violet. Lively deep violet beards. Perfect form, velvety texture and good substance. Strong 36-inch stems, low branched bearing as many as 14 buds. Midseason. $25.00. Paul Cook.
