From Fleur De Lis Gardens catalog, 1968: SAPPHIRE SHORE (Tompkins 19681 M.L. 38 in. (Silver Song x Ribbon Round). We had planned on picturing this on the cover of our catalog this season. However a hail storm caught the whole garden just prior to the day we had set aside for taking pictures which sort of blew the whole bit. However we hope to picture it in the near future. It is a huge flower of wonderful form and finish. The standards, extra wide and delightfully ruffled, dome perfectly while the edges almost nestle together in the heavy ruffling. The beautifully flaring falls, broad and ruffled, overlap at the hafts, the ruffling there offsetting wide, thick beards and huge, ruffled styles. It is a self of light luminescent, almost Opaline, milky blue even to the full wide beards. Its shining, glossy, completely unveined finish makes it extra showy as well as its perfect placement on the tall, widely branched stalks. A qood grower with wide clean foliage and large rhizoomes. No. 64-4C H.C. A.I.S.'67 and '68. Net $35.00
