'Song Of Spring' (Melba Hamblen, R. 1982). Seedling# H76-27B. TB, 34" (86 cm). Late midseason bloom. Heavily laced and ruffled violet blue (RHS 97D); tangerine orange beard. Seedling# 71-44A: ('Flamingo Fling' x 'Lilac Flare') X 'Sugarplum Fairy'. Mission Bell 1983. High Commendation 1982.

From AIS Bulletin #248 January 1983 Introducing SONG OF SPRING. 34", ML. With the 1975 introduction of TB neglecta Rippling Clouds, we had written finis to this series of by-products from lines developed for pink/blue irises. That was before Song of Spring bloomed-one of those rare irises destined for introduction with its maiden bloom. Beautifully formed with an abundance of lacy ruffles. Closed standards violet-blue (970), arched flaring falls violet-blue (900) finely edged palest blue. Vibrant tangerine beards. Superb stalks. ((Flamingo Fling x lilac Flare) X Sugarplum Fairy). HC '82. #H76-27B. Net $25.00. Mission Bell Gardens.
