References:

From AIS Bulletin #177, April 1965. Introducing SPANISH GIFT 1965. Bright orange with deep orange-red beard. Wide, ruffled, flaring falls. Well branched. Large, strong stalk. 36". Seedling 60-16-1. $25.00. George Shoop.
SPANISH GIFT is the most dependable "orange' in California. Fine formed flowers of good apricot-orange color. Good branching and very vigorous. In Coastal California, it is the closest thing to an everblooming iris that we've ever grown. Rare is a month that goes by without a stalk of this beauty in bloom for all to enjoy. [Joe Ghio, “The Eye of the Beholder,” The Bulletin of the American Iris Society, No. 199 (October 1970): 44.]
SPANISH GIFT (Shoop) - Although 15 years old, this orange still has the best overall quality of any in this color. Vigorous, dependable bloomer (a rebloomer in some parts of the country) and has good color saturation. Branching and bud count are sometimes variable. [Perry Dyer, “A Tall bearded Collection for the Beginner”, The Bulletin of the American Iris Society, No. 237 (April 1980): 37.]
