1987, Weiler

'Spiced Custard' (John Weiler, R. 1987). Seedling# 81-127-1. TB, 32" (81 cm). Midseason to late bloom. Standards cream and yellow blend, yellow most prominent near veins; falls burnt orange and cinnamon brown blend; maraschino red beard. Seedling# 79-83-7: ('Misty Moonscape' x 'Miss Goldilocks') X seedling# 79-87-1: ('Trudy' x Roe seedling# D-10, greenish amoena). Rialto Gardens 1987. Honorable Mention 1989.

From AIS Bulletin #265 April 1987 Introducing SPICED CUSTARD (Weiler 87) TB 32" M-L. The first of our bicolors and amoenas in yellow, orange and brown, this startling new color has standards blended cream-lemon and falls a spicy burnt orange cinnamon highlighted by maraschino red beards. A 3-branched stalk carries 7-8 buds well timed for long bloom. Rapid increase. Like no other iris! 81-127-1: (Misty Moonscape x Miss Goldilocks) X (Trudy x Roe 0-10, greenish amoena.) $30.00. Rialto Gardens.
