'Spinning Wheel' (D. C. Nearpass, R. 1974). Seedling# M-72-3. TB, 34" (86 cm), Midseason bloom.Standards white ground, pale blue-violet tinted plicata markings; falls white ground, bordered with medium blue-violet plicata markings; bronze beard. Seedling# J-69-22: ('Dancers Veil' x (('New Adventure' x ('Captured Heart' x 'Melodrama')) x 'Ribbon Round')) X 'Charmed Circle'. Nearpass 1976. Honorable Mention 1978; Award of Merit 1981.

Hardiness Zones 4-8 for most varieties, Some cultivars tolerate colder, others tolerate warmer zones (please comment in comment box with your location if this cultivar grows well in zone 3, 4, 9, or 10.)

  • TB 'Spinning Wheel' bloomed at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum, zone 4b, approximately May 31 - June 10, in 2017 (5 rhizomes). 'Spinning Wheel' does have purple based foliage, and has spathes that are almost completely purple. -- HollyJohnson2017 -04-01 - 01 Oct 2017
