From AIS Bulletin #201 April 1971 Introducing STRANGE INTERLUDE (Spence '71). Midseason. 30". TB. Rippling Waters X 62-9-4A: Prettyfield x Rippling Waters. This iris has the most unusual coloring of any iris I have ever hybridized. Tan with violet undertones; a definite "smoky" with a brilliant orange beard. Nice flower form resembling Rippling Waters. Though the plant is short, the flowers are nicely placed and open in perfect sequence. Six buds. EC '69. Best sdlg. of show '69 Net $25.00. Herbert Spence.
