References:

From Fleur de Lis catalog, 1965: SUDDEN SPRING (Framke 1965) E. VL. 39-44 in. (Gypsy Heart x Truly Yours) x Melodrama. A truly beautiful new Iris done in shades of Buttercup yellow and brilliant violet-rose; colors associated with, and as welcome as the sudden arrival of spring after a long wearisome winter. The large, well formed flowers of semi-flaring form have broad, heavily substanced petals and a sparkling finish. A bicolor or amoena, this has standards of creamy Butter yellow, tinted and touched with gilt and wide clean falls of vivid amethystmagenta or rose-violet. Tall and superbly branched stalks with many buds, even one plant makes a spectacular showing. A good hardy Iris of extra fast growth and good blooming habits. No. 62-5B. $20.00.
From Melrose catalog 1968: SUDDEN SPRING (Framke '65) A combination of colors that gets right down to the feeling of spring: standards light butter yellow and falls a blending of fuchsia and amethyst. Doesn't that sound like milady's Easter bonnet? A strong grower, too. 10.00.
