| From AIS Bulletin #189 April 1968 Introducing SUNSET SHADOWS. Sdlg. 66-1. PACIFIC PANORAMA X SUNSET BLUES. Large, smooth, aster violet self. Broad hafts, closed standards. Good branching and many buds. Ruffled. Self beard with slight blue tinge. 35". Late. HC '67. Net $25.00. Bernice Roe. |
| SUNSET SHADOWS is called aster violet by its introducer, but in any color it would be called outstanding. Very sturdy stalks with fine branching show the ruffled, heavily substanced flowers to their best advantage. Its only fault to date is that the branching sometimes starts so low on the stalk that the lowest branch is in the foliage. There are so many branches that this lower one could be removed and you would still have an abundance of bloom. [Mullin, Ron (1971). Irises I Like, American Iris Society Bulletin 204(January 1972), 12.] |
