'Swahili' (Gordon Plough, R. 1964). Seedling# 60-32-24. TB, 31" (79 cm), Early midseason bloom. Color Class-N1R, Standards red-black, slight violet cast; falls red-black, clean red-brown hafts, dark-brown beard. 'Edenite' X 'Allegiance'. Eden Road 1965. Honorable Mention 1966; Judges' Choice 1966, Judges' Choice 1967; Award of Merit 1969.

Water: Prefers well drained good garden soil, Tolerant of dry conditions in established plants, Intolerant of swampy conditions.

Fertilizer Prefers rich conditions on relatively inorganic soils.
