From Indian Spring Farms catalog, 1927: SWAZI (Bliss 1922). S. bluish-violet; F. velvety, blackish-violet. Magnificent flowers on a vigorous plant with 36-inch stems. The coloring isnearly the same as the Dominion parent, but the habits and carriage of the plant are far better. The available stocks of this fine Iris have never equalled the demand for it even at the high price. $20.00 each. |
From Bonnewitz catalog, 1927: SWAZI (Bliss). Dominion Seedling. S. large and well arched, soft bluish-violet; F. rich velvety pansy-violet. A large bloom of excellent substance. Height 36 inches. It has taken this variety five years to get acclimated in my garden, but it is now apparently as vigorous as Cardinal, Duke of Bedford or Bruno. $18.00. |
