From Sunnyside Gardens catalog, 1944: SYLVAN BELLE—(Peck, ’43). Gloriole X White Seedling: I like this white Iris better than any white Iris I have yet seen, particularly for its strong growth, pleasing form and freeness of bloom. The flowers are large and well placed on stalks over 40 inches tall, heavy substance and excellent branching. The flowers are pure white, with many flowers open at a time, with nine buds to a stalk; yellow beard with golden venations at haft; mildly fragrant; mid-season. The price will be maintained next year. $10.00. |
From Fairmount Gardens catalog, 1946: SYLVAN BELLE (Peck 1944) M Tall and well formed this warm white is the outstandmg Iris in the garden of Mr. Peck. A seedling of Gloriole, it has firm domed standards and semi-flaring falls with slight golden reticulations at the hafts which lend a glow to the whole flower. Hardy and a prolific grower. R. 88 1945. 40 in. $10.00. |
