From AIS Bulletin #225 Spring 1977 Introducing TANGERINE QUEEN (Marsh '77). TB, 30", LM. Sdlg. 71-3. (Tangerine Sunset X Orange Beauty). These big, very ruffled and laced tangerine self flowers have a big, showy mandarin red beard. The very ruffled standards are stiff but open enough to show the beard. The ruffled and laced falls are wide at the haft, very stiff, and flare almost horizontally. The stalks are heavy and never need staking. They have two branches, a spur and terminal, and carry seven flowers. It is a good grower and increaser with clean blue-green foliage. It has good pollen, but is reluctant to set seed. It received its HC in 1976 and was judged best seedling in a large class at the Northern Illinois Iris Show in 1976. $25.00. Marsh Gardens. |
