From Milliken Iris Gardens catalog, 1952: TANGIER (Whiting) We purchased the entire stock of this striking iris from Mrs. Whiting a few years ago. The well-shaped standards are a rich deep yellow, the falls are the color of the deepest tone in Rocket, giving an iris of depth and richness seldom seen. The falls ripple and the color holds much better than in Rocket, one of its parents. Substance excellent. An exciting iris. 3 ft. $25.00. |
From Fleur de Lis Gardens catalog 1956: TANGIER (Whiting 1950) M. 36 in. (Matula x Garden Magic) x Rocket. A very brilliant bitone in orange and yellow, somewhat in the style of Rocket. The standards are deep orange yellow and the falls very orange with slight coppery red overtone. Flowers are very large with extremely broad petals. 3.00. |
