From Maple Valley Gardens catalog, 1950: TECHNICOLOR No. 4646 (GARDEN GLORY X ROCKET). M., 34 inches. A brilliant, ruby red self, much admired by all garden visitors. Although this is the nearest approach to true red we have grown, the color is not harsh but rich and glowing. Hardy, vigorous and free blooming. $25.00.
From Maple Valley Gardens catalog, 1951: TECHNICOI.OR. Whiting 1950. No. 4646 (GARDEN GLORY X ROCKET). Midseason, 34 inches. A brilliant. ruby red self that has been much admired by garden visitors, including judges. Its haft is not quite as smooth and clean as that of its parent GARDEN GLORY. but its color is much nearer true red. Of moderate size and height, it still makes an impressive showing. The branching is quite good, the plants hardy and prolific both in bloom and increase. H. C. 1949. 11. M. 1950. $20.00.

"Bob [Schreiner] was growing quite a number of guest irises for various people. Among these, I was particularly struck with Mrs. Whiting's 46-46 which she has named Technicolor. It is a very bright, very smooth rose-red self of fine form, coming I believe from Rocket and Garden Glory. It has Garden Glory's smoothness but in a much brighter tone of light red and seems to be a better grower. As a red, Technicolor shared honors with Pacemaker from Greig Lapham. The latter was darker than Mrs. Whiting's red but with good carry and nice form. It also had a very smooth haft". Jesse E. Wills (Tenn.), “Iris Impressions 1949,” The Bulletin of the American Iris Society, No. 115 (October 1949): 20.
