'Tomeco' (Melvina Suiter, R. 1959). TB, 36" (91 cm). Midseason bloom. Color Class R1D. Oxblood red, overlaid copper. 'Owyhee' x (('Captain Wells' x 'Burmese Ruby') x 'Technicolor'). Eden Road, Tell 1961. High Commendation 1960; Cook-Lapham 1965.

From AIS Bulletin #161, April 1961. Introducing TOMECO (Suiter '61) M. 36 in. (Owyhee) X (Captain Wells x Burmese Ruby) x Technicolor). Really gorgeous new large and smooth oxblood red. Petals are very wide, form is semi-flaring and the blooms are well placed on nicely branched stalks. HC '60. $20.00. Eden Road.
 
TOMECO (Suiter). Tom-e-co. Mrs. Suiter told us on a convention bus that she borrowed the name of a one-time redskin chief for her new red iris. [“A Few Pronunciations,” The Bulletin of the American Iris Society #171(October 1963): 111.]
