Orville Fay, R. 1952) Sdlg. 53-91. TB, 38" (97 cm), Midseason bloom. Very deep blue-violet self, called "blue-black," beard same. (Name released by David F. Hall, seedling not introduced.).
'Black Hills' X Fay seedling. Fay 1956. High Commendation 1954; Honorable Mention 1956; Judges' Choice 1957; Award of Merit 1959.

From Fay catalog, 1956: Total Eclipse. S25.00 No. 53-91- Black Hills crossed back to its Pod Parent. A very large and tall blue-black Iris with a beard which is almost black, tipped in light blue. A large and vigorous plant. The 45-inch stem is strong and straight with four branches and terminal, producing 10 or 11 flowers on a main bloom stem. The flowers have very good form, with closed standards, flaring falls, no haft marks and very good substance. Fertile both ways. H.C. 1954. |
