From Fleur de Lis catalog 1963 TWILIGHT ZONE (Tompkins 1963) M.VL. 44 in. Mountain Music x (Down Beat x Al Borak). A blend of Parisian blue, Dauphine rose and Vanderpools violet, by Ridgway. This is, as near as we can describe it, a smoothly colored self derived from tones of deep Petunia violet, rich rose purple and what surely must be a faint though subtly hidden blending throughout of coppery Cocoa. A wide, thick beard of a more vivid tone of smoky red purple adds to this combination and produces a glowing, smokily overtoned flower almost impossible to accurately describe but one which is so different and compellingly beautiful that it truly seems to be "Almost out of this world." Flawlessly clean and velvety finished with wide, perfectly domed stands and broad, gently waved, horizontal falls; the massive, regal blooms are displayed to perfection on tall, strong, widely branched stalks. One of our personal favorites. No. 58- 120. $25.00. |
