References:

From Glen Road Iris Garden catalog, 1922: TYRIAN (Sturt. 1922) — Standards a transparent, bright Mathews Purple, falls a very velvety Cotinga Purple (it seems the most vivid deep claret flower I have ever seen); good size, habit, and growth. 32 in. 15.00.
From Quality Gardens catalog 1931: TYRIAN (Sturt. 1922) M. 36". S. lavender violet. F. dark red purple. In vivid coloring and the heavy velvety texture of the falls, it compares very favorably with the Dominion seedlings. We can recommend this to those customers who like dark rich flow'ers. $.50.
