References:
From Southern California Iris Garden catalog, 1929: VIOLET LAKE (Dean, 1929). We will let the colored reproduction on page six serve as a description of the flower. It blooms abundantly over a long period, reaches a height of about 2-1/2 feet and is a flower of good substance. It seems quite different from any other iris which we know. 2-1/2 ft. $1.50 each. |
From Milliken Iris Gardens catalog, 1933: VIOLET LAKE (Dean). This is reproduced natural size and in color on page 17. It is a remarkably effective landscape variety and was outstanding in our gardens this past year. We are listing it at a price that will allow a general distribution. 2½ ft. 50c. 3 for $1.00. |
