2026 Online Description: Well I Mean provides a striking splash of vibrant color in the garden. Enormous spectrum orange beards create a stunning contrast against the cranberry purple and beetroot shades of the ruffled standards and falls. A vigorous grower, Well I Mean stands 37 inches tall and produces 8 buds per stalk, sometimes even carrying triple-socketed terminals. My first iris hybrid was named My Missus Carter, after my honorary grandmother. Well I Mean is named for a turn of phrase that she is fond of using when surprised or impressed. A child of the iris My Missus Carter, this bright, eye-catching flower will certainly cause you to say, “well I mean!” Parentage: Tobacco Chew X My Missus Carter Won an Exhibition Certificate at the 2021 Spring Iris Show in Winchester, VA along with subsequent EC’s at every show I’ve taken it to since then.
