From Melrose Gardens catalog, 1968: AMETHYST ACCENT (Kenneth Kidd '68) ARILBRED 28" Early. ((Imam Ahmid X (Wilke's: Imam Salah x lmaret)). The full standards of this exotic lovely are amethyst over which a fine etching of distinct veining traces a pattern, delicately and intriguingly. The wide, slightly recurved falls are buff washed with amethyst and veined and dotted in a similar pattern to the standards but with deep purple signals at the tip of the yellow beards, thus fulfilling all the requirements of a "close approximation" arilbred as outlined by the Aril Society. The plants seem more tolerant of us gardeners than some in this class. $15.00 |
