The only species ( Afrocrocus unifolius (Goldblatt) Goldblatt & J.C.Manning, Iris Family: 160 (2008), no basionym ref.. ) is not accepted by the World Checklist but is considered a synonym of Syringodea unifolia Goldblatt, Fl. Pl. Africa 41: t. 1638 (1971 publ. 1972).
