'Lockett's Luck' (Fay Duval, T. Jostremski, Elmina Thibault, R 1947) LA. 30 inches; Early bloom. Color Class R4L. Flesh to mauve pink, large diamond-shaped signal outlined with maroon. Found near Golden Meadow, LA by Mrs. Fay Duval and Mr. T. Jostremski. Collected. Synonym Rattle-Snake. Honorable Mention 1950. Recorded as Vinie in 49 Checklist; Class renamed Louisiana Iris.

From Sidney Conger Louisiana Iris catalog, 1952: LOCKETT'S LUCK. (Thibaut, '47). S.L.I. Show Winner, '48, H.M. A.I.S.'50. Who wouldn't consider it luck to find this delicate beauty in the wild! The almost flesh pink flowers reach 6" to 7" in size and are enhanced by a small brown outline around the diamond shaped signal patch of pale gold. The form is campanulate and flaring. 36". $3.50. |
