Hybridizer Myron Dinsmore Bigger (1902-1998)¹

Mr. Bigger was known over the world for his propagation of peonies in the Topeka, Kansas area. He served as President of the American Peony Society in 1958 to 1959. He registered his first peony hybrid in 1936 and was a member of the National Peony Society beginning in 1924 and remained a member for 72 years. His plants grow worldwide including in Japan, New Zealand and Canada. He even invented a custom digger that goes underground to cut the roots of the plants and then plow them from the ground.
