Tom and his wife Anne were enthusiastic iris growers and hybridizers. Colorado had been the Johnsons' home for many years where Anne involved herself in Regional affairs and served there, too, as membership chairman. An avid interest in dwarf irises produced a constantly enlarging collection and a garden that served as a Median Iris Display Garden in Colorado. In addition to dwarfs and medians, the Johnsons also grew tall beardeds, arils, and spurias.¹
