Scientist Pierre-Joseph Redouté (1759-1840)

Artist famous for his ilustrations of flowers, he collaborated with the biggest botanists of his time and was nicknamed "the Raphael of flowers" and has been called the greatest botanical illustrator of all time. Born in Saint-Hubert (Belgium), went in Paris with his brother (1782), met Charles Louis L'Héritier de Brutelle and René-Louis Desfontaines, which direct him to the botanical illustration, disciplines then rapidly expanding. In 1787, it leaves studying plants in the Botanical garden of Kew near London. back to Paris, became an official court artist of Queen Marie Antoinette (1788).
